Secretary of State Bellows Statement on Federal Court Striking Down Provisions of anti-voting Executive Order

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows issued the following statement this afternoon in response to  Chief US District Judge Denise Casper permanently enjoining provisions of a 2025 anti-voting Executive Order by President Trump.

“Donald Trump continues to stack up loss after loss in court and as we are now just days away from the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation, states continue to show that when we stand united, we can successfully defend the rule of law and our rights to administer elections.

The judge could not have stated it more plainly – the US Consttution assigns control over elections in the States and does not grant the president any powers over elections.  We will continue to fight Donald Trump and the DOJ’s every attempt to interfere with free and fair elections.”

The ruling comes in response to a 19-state litigation challenging the order and stated “there is no evidence in the record of widespread “illegal voting, discriminations, fraud and other forms of malfeasance and error” within America elections, which the Executive Order purport to safeguard against.”
