Commissioner Michael Sauschuck used this afternoon’s press conference in Lewiston to make several announcements and to correct the record on one subject.
A search of the Androscoggin River in Lisbon by divers near his abandoned car is ongoing the Commissioner said. It will continue into at least tomorrow, Saturday, October 28, 2023. Additional diving teams from out-of-state are expected to join the search already in place tomorrow. Saturday.
The shelter-in-place order that has been in place was lifted effective immediately the Commissioner announced. Businesses in the area may open up or remain closed. The lifting of the ban will make it possible for funerals to be planned and held. Hunting is prohibied in the towns of Lewiston, Lisbon. Bowdoin and Monmouth for tomorrow, Saturday, October 28, 2023. The oldest of the eighteen victims was 76 years old and the youngest was 14 years old. The latter was with his father at the bowling ally. Both are deceased.
Contrary to his statement this mornng, all eighteen victims have been identified and their families notified the Commissioner reported. Earlier he had mistated that only eight of the victims had been identified and their families informed.
