A search for Robert Stoltz, 22 of Augusta, in the Kennebec River near Bath, continues today according to a press release issued by the Department of Marine Resources this afternoon.
Mr. Stoltz was reported missing yesterday afternoon. He was fishing when he attempted to rescue his dog that had jumped in the River from his 23-foot boat near Lines Island.
The Marine Patrol was notified of the incident yesterday at 2:10 pm after a witness called 911 to report seeing two persons in the water. A female passenger on Mr. Stoltz boat along with a second dog were rescued by other boaters and transported to shore. Local EMS personnel treated the female passenger for minor injuries. Both dogs have been rescued.
Yesterday’s search continued in the vicinity of Lines Island until 11:00 pm., when it was postponed due to poor visibiity. Today’s search, including Marine Patrol boats and plane began at 5:00 am and is focusing on the Kennebec River near Lines Island.
