The air was nippy but the atmosphere was warm and cozy as families searching for their perfect Christmas tree descended upon the now open Treegull, 199 West Commercial Street, Portland. This is the fifth year that Treegull has offered a variety of tree sizes, gorgeous wreaths, a gift shop and the Clam Bar – with its extensive menu for its discriminating patrons..
As in past years around 400 fresh, balsam trees were trucked down from MMB Tree Farm in Van Buren, near the Canadian border.
The Ermlich family has purchased its tree at Treegull every year since it opened. This year the family selected a 9 foot tree because their home as high ceilings. After their selection, they warmed up with a lunch at the adjoining Clam Bar.
For many selecting a tree has become a tradition at Seagull because of its convenience for Portlanders who don’t want to travel out of the city. There is ample parking as well on site. Because Thanksgiving was late this year, there is a shorter time in which to buy your tree. So, there is no time to waste in the pursuit of that holiday tradition!
This blogger warmed up with a mug of delicious mulled cider prepared by Alyssa who said: “I’m here for you,” in her winning way inside the Clam Bar.
