Sanctuary List Removed from Homeland Security Webpage Over Weekend

Several searches of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) web page this afternoon have confirmed that the list of sanctuary jurisdictions across the US has been removed from the web page.  On that list was the city of Portland, as well as Cumberland and Hancock counties.

According to a report from on-line AOL,  this removal from the webpage follows harsh criticism from a national sheriff’s asociation.  The pushback said that “non-compliant” sheriffs could cause serious damage to the relationship “between the Trump administration and law enforcement.”  The pushback included many of whom are not actually sanctuary jurisdictions accordng to the on-line AOL report.

By way of background, It was reported herein on May 30, 2025 that the Department of Homeland Security had published a list of sanctuary locations across the country.  Included in that list was the city of Portland and Cumberland and Hancock Counties.  The edict in the list was that “sanctuary politicians” needed to comply with federal law.

What do you think this means?

This blogger is awaitng a response from Mayor Dion on this development.
