Running scared, MAGA Member Susan Collins (R-ME) voted scared yesterday with Democrats in a failed resolution to limit Trump’s War on Iran.

For the first time ever, she voted with Democrats knowing that she will be facing a rising star in Maine politics in the upcoming  November midterms.  Graham Platner, the rising star in Maine politics, who served four tours of duty with the US Military in Iraq and Afghanistan, has been an outspoken critic of the war. Incumbent Collins also knows that 61% of the nation’s population does not support this war.  That is an unusually high number –  given the War only began by a power hungry Trump several months ago.  The War in Iran has dramatically increased the price of gas at the pumps as well as food at the grocery stores.  How will the increased gas prices affect the summer tourist season, Senator Collins?

The Trump administration and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have been severly criticed by democrats and others for failing to win the approval of the public as well as the Congress for its illegal attack on Iran.  The chaos surrounding this War, has led to further criticism that Hegseth, a former talk show host on Fox, had no creditable justification,  The only plan apparently was a desire to please the Israeli Prime Minister.

While Collins’ war chest may be overflowing with funds from out of state billionaires, her in state creditablity on issues of importance to Mainers is in the deficit column.  Illegal deportation of immigrants, cost of living, her support of anti-abortion Supreme Court justices are just the tip of her iceberg of a long list of issues that Mainers have with her.

Trump ally Collins has come under her own fire from Mainers for failing to hold any town halls since the Clinton administration.  A DC staff member of hers told this blogger on March 15, 2025, that Collins does not need to hold town halls because she has “access to the local  newspaper.”  Meanwhile, Graham Platner has criss-crossed the state of Maine having held 63 town halls since the launch of his US Senate campaign last summer.  Something that Senator Collins is afraid to do.

The headline in today’s front page article in the “New York Times” is:  “Key Republicans Losing Patience for War in Iran.”  That’s wrong. Just plain wrong:   Senator Collins only hears the anti-war campaign message of History Buff Graham Platner ringing in her ears. Hemingway’s – “For Whom the Bell Tolls” is not her favorite wind chime.
