“Transforming” Reiche Elementary School into a 21st century school is the goal of a proposal put forth by an architectural firm. The firm, Harriman, filed the proposal with the city’s planning office last November. “This project is intended to enhance the available facilities for the current student population,” the filing stated. The community school is located on 5.3 acres on Brackett Street on the west end of Portland.
The Reiche School building additions will consist of about 510 se. ft. single-story conference/administration addition on the north side of the existing School. Also nearby will be a small 160 sq. ft. stairwell addition.
Together with the reconstructed impervious pavement in the area of the new building additions, the project will result in a net reduction of impervious area of 1,800 sq. feet.
No additional students or staff are anticipated due to these facility improvements. On-site parking on the Clark Street side of the School will remain undisturbed.
