Bayside Bark, the popular dog supermarket formerly located at 211 Marginal Way, has pupped-up elsewhere on the east end of Portland – at 47 India Street.  The new supermarket opened on July 12 according to Michael, a sales associate and a resident of Munjoy Hill as well.

It’s about one-third the size of the former Marginal Way location said Michael.  So it carries a smaller supply of the same products sold on Marginal Way.  That includes a wide variety of dry and canned food, treats, toys, grooming supplies and accessories.  “We do walk-in groom services on Tuesday and Friday,” he said.  Because of the small size of the store, full grooming services are not available at this location.  That and much more will come later at another location – 31 Diamond Street – early next year.

The lease at 211 Marginal Way expired and the new location for Bayside Bark is not yet ready for its occupancy.  In order to keep a presence in the Portland area, this India Street pup-up will suffice.  Whether or not this India Street location will remain open next year is TBD.

A medical facility – Convenient M.D. – has acquired the lease at 211 Marginal Way, the former location of Bayside Bark. Formerly called Planet Dog, the dog supermarket was sold four years ago to The Kyjen Co. a Denver-based company.

“We are excited about the 31 Diamond Street location.  That space will be used in a better way because there are lots of opportunities there,” said Michael.
