Protestors Form 4 Hour Human Chain in Front of Harbor View Encampment; No Arrests

Jess Falero, Organizer of the Protest This Morning at Harbor View Memorial Park.

Coffee by design Coffee Shop on India Street was Broken into Yesterday.

“We formed a four hour human chain this morning.  It ran from 6:00 am through 10;00 am and there were no arrests,” said Jess Falero, protest organizer, around 10:30 am at the Harbor View Memorial Park encampment.  Eleven cars stationed in front of the encampment as part of the protest were  towed according to Falero and confirmed by a Portland Police Officer.

The actual sweep of the most densely populated area was delayed while the city’s Public Works Department removed structures and people from the top of the encampment.

This blogger was on site briefly and the entire scene seemed chaotic and as though no one was in charge or knew what to do next.  Public Works personnel were standing around apparently unsupervised.  Director of the Department Mike Murray could not be located for comment on the next steps in the sweep of the encampment..

Meanwhile, Coffee by Design, on India Street on the East End of Portland was broken into yesterday and an investigation is ongoing according to the Police Department spokesman.

No press release will be released because:  “There are many incidents that take place every day in the city and not all of them end up rising to the level of press releases written about them.  The fact that it was a holiday may have contributed to that as well,” wrote the Department’s spokesman, Brad Nadeau, in an email this morning.
