A Pole Being Replaced at the Corner of North Street and Cumberland Avenue Today.

Most of Munjoy HIll experienced a power outage this morning.  Whlle replacing a pole at the corner of North Street and Cumberland Avenue, a lineman hit a live wire.  Power out!  But, it didn’t take long  for the repair to be made and residents and businesses of the Hill had their power restored.  When the replacment of the old pole will be completed is unknown at this time. A repairman on the site said this is not unusual.  “It happens often.” End of that story!

But another story late this afternoon was a delightful reception held at Fish & Bone, 5 India Street, on the East End of Portland.  Kathy Palmer, owner of Fish & Bone, moved her pet store business from Commercial Street to this new location in November of 2022.  Palmer had been at that location for 20 years..  She said the move to this East End location is less congested and easier to access for pet owners and their pets than the Commercial Street location.  Palmer also has a similar pet store on Newbury Street in Boston.

Palmer began her pet store business on Congress Street on Munjoy Hill where this blogger had the pleasure of writing a story about her for the now defunct “Munjoy Hill Observer.”  That was twenty-three years ago!
