Portland Tenants to Present an Audit of Rental Listings & the Tenants Agenda; May 12th Evening

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 7:00 pm. the Portland Tenants will present an update of their 2025 Zillow Audit showing egregious and ongoing rent control violations in the city, as well as the Tenants Agenda, a tenant approved plan to lower the rent, guarantee safe and stable housing and end landlord corruption.  The presentation will be given at the Space Gallery, 534-38 Congress Street, in Portland.  (From 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm)

The reason is that across our beautifu; city, greedy landlords are ignoring rent control laws, but the Portand Tenants Union is fighting back.  Over the past year, we’ve supported tenants in making their cases before the Rent Board, winning back hundreds of thousands of dollars for renters who were forced to pay illegal rent.   The more we heard from fellow tenants, the more it became clear that there is widespread disregard for Portland’s rent control laws and the city is failing to hold landlords accountable.  To illustrate just how dire the rental market is, this March we conducted an updated Zillow audit.  We looked at all of the rental listings on Zillow and identified how many were in violation of Portland Rent Control laws.  We used  this information and what we’ve learned fighting greedy landlords over the past year to build the Tenant Agenda:  a pathway toward safe, stable and affordable housing for Portland tenants.

Portland Tenantds Union is an organization for tenants across the City of Portland to come together and defend their rights.  We have personal experience and success fighting landlod violations and retaliation with the city’s Housing Safety Office Rent Board and in court.  Our goal is to educate tenants about their rights and support them in addressing violations with their landloard and the city of Portland.
