“We have received over 100 requests for RFQ #4016; Request for Qualifications for Congress Square Public Art Commission, Portland, Maine from places as far away as Hong Kong, Moscow, Scandinavia and the British Isles as well as many from the West Coast, particularly the other Portland (Oregon). But overall only 9 requests from folks here in Maine,” wrote James Lobley to mhn.com in an email. Lobley is employed by the city of Portland in the Purchasing Office.
Just before Christmas, the Portland Public Art Commission, chaired by Lin Lisberger, issued an open call for artists for a major public art commission in the heart of the city arts district in downtown Portland. Lisberger is a resident of Munjoy Hill and an artist in her own right.
If you did not respond to the original open call, there is still plenty of time for you to do so. The deadline for submission to the city for RFQ’s is Thursday, January 28, at 3:00 pm at the Purchasing Office in City Hall. For more information, please call 207 – 874-8654 or see a post herein dated December 21, 2015, Post # 2,514.
