Cloudport, an office co-op, will be opening in the India Street neighborhood sometime this spring said Josh Corbeau, co-founder, earlier today. The location is 63 Federal Street, a large building that formerly housed CycleMania. It moved to 65 Cove Street off Marginal Way earlier this year for more foot traffic.
When it was built back in 1927 the building was first used as a garage.
Details are evolving, but Corbeau, Vice President of Medley Properties, said it will offer amenities not available in similar facilities in Portland. There will be a conference room with a kitchen and bar available to members of the co-op. The building will also have an event space. There are a total of three conference rooms all outfitted with the latest technology and “top of the line furniture” throughout the facility. The interior will be a clean, industrial modern space with lots of glass. There will be space for coffee and snacks for members – a convenience for busy people. This co-op office space will be the first in the East End of Portland. The Think Tank and Peloton Labs, similar facilities, are located in downtown Portland.
“This will be a wonderful spot for a satellite business,” said Corbeau. If you are from out-of-town and need a local place to conduct your business, this could be the place for you. I see so many people using coffee shops where the wi-fis are not strong. There isn’t a lot of privacy either. This will be a great alternative,” he said.
Memberships will be available, although those fees are yet to be determined. Corbeau would not say how many spaces are available, but he has already had interest in them when they are available – sometime in the spring.
There will be a web site available at the end of January 2016. For more information on this new facility, please email Josh at josh.corbeau@me.com
