The Portland Public Schools Annual Student Art Show at City Hall is up and on display for the first two full weeks of the month — until May 15 according to a press release issued late this morning.
You are invited to attend an opening reception tonight May 1, from 3:30 – pm – 6:00 pm during the May First Friday Art Walk. The show features a wide range of compelling student artwork from all of our schools — from elementary school to high school.
This annual art show is a highlight of the year. It is a great opportunity to see the growth and development of students from their early art experiences in kindergarten through their senior year. Artworks on display include everything from drawings to pottery and acrylic paintings. “The talent, creativity and work ethic of our students is on display in this show, which also is a celebration of the guidance, knowledge and mentorship of our incredible art educators,” said Chad Hart, Deering High School art teacher and the district’s art coordinator.
