Portland Police Investigate West End Shooting Death Last Night

Portland Interim Police Chief F. Heath Gorham at a Press Conference Recently at Police Headquarters on Middle Street.  He Acknowledged that the Portland Police Department is Seriously Understaffed.

On Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 9:45 pm., Portland officers responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Sherman and Mellen Streets on the west end of Portland where they found a 26 year old man from Portland suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was transported to Maine Medical Center where he later died according to a press release issued by the Portland Police Department this morning.

An autopsy will be performed sometime today to determine the cause and manner of death.  Police do not believe there is any  danger to the public.  His identity has not been released.
