Portland Police responded to the 100 block of Woodford Street just after 1:00 am on April 26, 2022 (this morning) for the report of an argument in a group of people and the sound of gunshots.  Officers arrived on scene and located a 43 year old male and a 27 year old female in the roadway.  Both had been shot.

Officers rendered aid to the victims until they were transported to Maine Medical Center.  The male did not survive his injuries.  The female suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The cause and manner of death of the male will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Woodford Street between Forest Avenue and Melrose Street is closed until the investigation is completed.
