Another Wedding at City Hall This Afternoon.

The Portland Police Department is holding an in-person hiring event on Monday, August 29, from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm in the plaza at 109 Middle Street.  This event requires no pre-registration and gives propspective applicants an opportunto to learn about becoming a Portland Police Department or Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher) employee.

Similar to many industries today, the recruitment of police officers and telecommunicators remains a challenge.  Despite this, the team at Portland Police Department appreciates how important these vital public safety roles are to community.  We are pleased to promote these career opportunities that are far mroe than just an average job.

Both the PPD and the PRCC are offering a $10,000 sign-on bonus, with a five year commitment to new employees according to a press release from David Singer of the Portland Police Department.

Recently, city hall has announced that it is looking for a firm to conduct a search to find a permanent Police Chief.  Currently, F. Health Gorham is serving as interim police chief replacing Chief Frank Clark who left for a position in the private sector last November.  The city will accept RFP up until September 7, 2022.
