Application for Development of 158 Fore Street Filed by Hotel Developer

The City has Received a Level 3 Application for the Development of This 1.39 Acres of Vacant Property at 158 Fore Street. (The Red Brick Building on the Left is the Grand Trunk Office Building, Recently Purchased by Gorham Savings  Bank for Offices.)

An application for a Level III subdivision and site plan review of 158 Fore Street has been filed with the city’s planning division according to a notification by the city.  The proposal is to subdivide the 1.39 acre site into two parcels.  Lot 1 is proposed with a 6 story building containing a 150 room hotel, 16 residential condominiums and commercial space on the first floor.  A shared driveway with a turnaround is proposed from Fore Street to serve the hotel and parking will be provided by the Ocean Gateway garage.  The property is in the B6 zone and Shoreland zone.

Portland Norwich Group is a hotel development and investment company that focuses on New England and Florida.  It has offices in New Hampshire and Florida.  It is also the same company that developed the Marriott Residence Inn across the street on Fore Street.

However, according to a real estate company the property is under contract for sale.  Others have reported herein that the closing is expected to take place in November.  Please see Post # 2.435, dated October 3rd.
