The City has announced that Fire Chief Jerome LaMoira is resigning his post effective 10/20/15.  Chief LaMoira has served since January 3, 2013, leading Portland’s 235-member fire and emergency management department.

“Chief LaMoira has been a great leader who has overseen the Fire Department during a time that includes a number of organizational changes that will carry the department into the future,” said City Manager, Jon Jennings,  “While we are said to lose his leadership, we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

“I want to express my deep admiration for the excellent and dedication that the men and women of the Fire Department display every day,” said Chief LaMoira.  “I am very proud of the service they provide to this great city and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve this department.  We pushed boundaries and implemented a lot of changes that have resulted in a more effective and efficient department.”

The City Manager will soon announce an interim chief while a search for a new chief is undergone.
