The Eastern Promenade will once again be a stage for a major musical event on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The day-long Portland Lights Musical Festival will bring a number of bands to the area including but not limited to: Guster, Dr. Dog, Augustana, and The Gramblers
Last Fall the Portland City Council voted unanimously to approve the concept, although no details were available at the time. The Festival is hosted by Townsquare Media, a company that owns radio stations in the area.
This Festival comes three years after a British rock group, Mumford & Sons, performed for about 15,000 on the Eastern Promenade as part of a limited tour in the US to promote a new album. The performance was hailed as a success. It attracted people from all over the country and introduced many to Portland and its amenities. The only complaint voiced was the lack of food venues inside the gated Eastern Promenade area. Food lines were interminably long creating endless waits.
There is no word yet from the City on street closures for this Festival.
Tickets for the Portland Lights and Music Festival are $20. to $60. For more information, please go to the web page: Portland Lights & Musical Festival.com
