One of Several Lovely Floral Arangements at the Memorial Service for the Late Doug McDonald of Portland Yesterday Afternoon.  There is no Connection Between this Press Release from the Portland Police Department and the Recent Passing of Mr. McDonald.

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 7:25 pm., Portland Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident in the area of 654 Riverside Street.  A car, driven by a 26-year-old Portland man, struck a 37-year-old Portland man, who was walking in the roadway.

The accident happened near the homeless shelter.  Some have said their is inadequate lighting and crosalks in that area.

The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.  His identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The Portland Police is investigating the incident and no charges have been filed at this time.
