Portland Man Charged With Illegal Drug Trafficking Yesterday

James Ferrar, 30, of Portland, was arrested yesterday as he delivered fentanyl to an undercover agent in the west end of Portland.

After Ferrar’s arrest, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency agents executed a search warrant at his 252 Vaughn Street apartment.  In excess of 100 grams of fentanyl, digital scales, packaging materials and other items indicative of illegal drug trafficking were found.  The fentanyl was packaged in assorted weights in preraration for sale.  The approximate street value of the seized fentanyl is $10,000.

Both the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Portland Police Department have been investigating Ferrar for over the past month.  During this time he has distributed fentanyl throughout the west end of Portland.

Ferrar was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where bail was set at $1000.00 according to a press release from Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer for the Maie department of Public Safety, Augusta.
