Portland Man Arrested on Firearm Robbery Charges

On Friday, July 24, 2026, a man attempting to sell a firearm was robbed and assaulted.  The firearm was stolen during the incident according to a press release issued this afternoon by the Portland Police Department.

Following an investigation, members of the Portland Police Department Criminal Investigation Division (CID) identified the suspect and conducted surveillance.

On Friday, July 31, 2026, members of the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), along with Detectives, conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Mellen and Congress Streets.  A passenger in the vehicle, Dominic Moncada-Sanchez, 21, of Portland, was taken into custody on an arrest warrant related to the robbery.  He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.  Officers also recovered the stolen firearm.

Later that evening, members of the Portland Police Department,’s Special Reaction Team (SRT) executed a high-risk search warrant at the suspect’s residence.  During the execution of the warrant, officers arrested Jorge Ramirez, 38, of Hartford, Connecticut, charging him with Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drug (Class W).  Officers also seized approximately $3,700 in cash along with digital scales, cutting agents and packaging materials consistent with the distribution of illegal drugs.
