On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at approximaely 10:00 pm., a Portland Police officer was patroling the area of Portland and Hanover Streets when he observed a disturbance.

The officer encountered a 23 year old man who reported that he had been stabbed in the back.  The victim was transported to Maine Medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly thereafter, Portland Police located and took a suspect into custody.  Police arrested Patrick Brando, 34, of Portland, charging him with Elevated Aggravated Assaul, Refusing to submit to Arrest or Detention and Violation of Conditions of Release.  He was also arrested for five outstanding Warrants.

Brando was transported to the C umberland County Jail.
