Portland Man Arrested for AM Exchange Street Burglary in Old Port; Accomplice Sought

FatFace is a Clothing Store From Overseas With a Branch at 34 Exchange Street, Portland.

Early this morning a Portland Police Officer was dispatched to a burglary alarm at FatFace, 34 Exchange Street.  Upon arrival, the officer found 45-year-old Joseph Call, Portland, and an accomplice who were dragging a safe through the snow in a suitcase.  After ordering the pair to stop, they both fled on foot. Call was quickly taken into custody.  The safe had been removed from an office at 34 Exchange Street.

Call was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, refusing to submit to arrest and violating conditions of release.  Call was taken to the Cumberland County Jail for booking.

Police are still on the lookout for his accomplice, who was a white male wearing a tan/orange jacket with a dark hat and glasses.  No one at FatFace, 34 Exchange Street,  could comment on the matter this afternoon. Meanwhile, the Portland Police Department has announced recently the hiring of Brad Nadeau as its new media & communications relations liaison.

A Caribou native and a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine, Nadeau spent the previous 28 years as the Director of Athletic Communications at Middlebury College, Vermont.
