David Flanagan, a former President of Central Maine Power and the 12th President of the University of Southern Maine, will be remembered through a gift in the amount of $1.2 million from Avangrid Foundation to the Muskie School of Public Service it was announced yesterday morning.

This investment will create the Avangrid David Flanagan Endowed Professorship at the Muskie School of Public Service.  It will help USM attract and retain top faculty with public policy expertise to facilitate teaching and research in sustainability, energy and climate transition with significance in Maine and beyond.  The gift will also establish the Avangrid David Flanagan Memorial Endowed Scholarship in sustainability at Muskie as well.  It will be available to graduate students earning several different Master’s Degrees.
