On Monday morning, August 19, 2024, Portland Police arrested Ramon Nunez-Rosario, 44, of Portland, in connection with an assault on Friday.  He has been charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Assault and was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.

On Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 3:37 pm., police were dispatched to the wooded area behind the Homeless Services Center at 654 Riverside Street for a report of a male who was assaulting twii men.

An investigation revealed that Nunez-Rosario had struck two different men with a baseball bat, causing serious injuries.  Both of them were transported to Maine Medical Center,  one with life-threatening injuries.  The victim with life-threatening injuries is now considered to be in stable condition.
