Just after 6:30 pm today, September 7, police were called to Deering Oaks Park for the report of a shooting.

A male was found suffering from a gunshot wound.  The first responding officer provided emergency care until paramedics arrived and he was transported to Maine Medical Center.  His condition is unknown at this time.  Police are currently interviewing witnesses and investigators are responding to the scene.

At this time, we have several subjects detained and we do not believe there is a continued threat to the public. We hope to have more infornation to share as we gather more facts.
