On Sunday, October 9, 2022, two homes in the same neighborhood were entered while residents slept inside. The homes were located on Dirigo Street and Brighton Avenue near Stevens Avenue. Boh homes were unlocked. Because of the close proximity it is believed that the same suspect entered both of these homes.
The suspect entered the home on Dirigo Street sometime after 3:00 am and took cash, debit cards and car keys from the owner’s purse. The vehicle was stolen and driven to the area of Lovell Street. It appears that the car was disabled afer striking a curb.
The suspect is believed to have entered the Brighton Avenue home some time around 4:00 am and entered a bedroom, waking up one of the residents, before fleeing. During this burglary a loaded handgun was stolen along with the contents of wallets.
Police are urging residents to lock their doors and vehicles to avoid crimes like these.
The suspect that entered the Brighton Avenue residence was described as a young, light skinned, black male. Police are asking anyone with video surveillance systems to check their records between 3:00 am – to 4:30 am for any suspicious activity.
Investigators are urging anyone who has any information that might assist in this case to call them at (207) 874-8575.
