“The President’s decision to bomb Iran without the authorization of Congress is reckless, unconstitutional and puts countless lives at risk —- including US troops currently stationed in the Middle East.
No President has the authority to launch a military attack against any country without Congressional authorization ——- especially when there’s no imminent threat to the American people. This is unconstitutional.
It is imperative that the Congress convene as soon as possible to address this crisis, to vote on the bipartisan War Powers Act introduced last week and to make clear to the President that the US must not be dragged into another war in the Middle East,” said Congresswoman Chellie PIngree (D-ME) in a statement following the President’s bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran this evening.
Other Democratic Senators are responding in a similar fashion.
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) has not responded to a request for a statement on the attack on Iran nuclear sites issued earlier this evening. Does she support the attack? Does Senator Collins want to retain Congressional authority under such circumstances or not? Don’t voters deserve to know where she stands on important issues – what is she afraid of besides criticism from those who disagree with her?? Or is she afraid of being primaried by Covicted Felon Trump. She’s indecisive all the time – on all issues. Have you noticed how she says one thing and votes the opposite of what she says?
