Former President Donald J. Trump was indicted on Monday in connectdin with his widespread efforts to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory in Georgia.  In response to the historic fourth indictment of Trump, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement this morning:

“We all heard the phone call.  Mr. Trump tried to blackmail Georgia’s top election official to illegally fabricate votes in an aggressive and desparate attempt to cling to power.  Let’s not forget, this is the presumptive Republican nominee for president who now faces more than 90 criminal charges across four indictments.  His clear contempt for our free elections is a stain on the presidency.  With this latest indictmet, our nation sees another glimmer that Mr. Trump will finally be held accountable for his disgraceful actions and exemplifies the shared belief that in America, no one – not even a president – is above the law.”
