Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today announced a 2 year paid fellowship opportunity in her Portland district office. Pingree said that the person chosen for the special Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program, formerly known as the Wounded Warrior program, will work with the mililtary and veteran constituents to handle veterans related casework and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencis.
The Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program was established by the House of Representatives to provide employment opportunities for veterans and Gold Star Families within member offices.
“This is a great opportunity for a veteran or Gold Star family member to join my team in Portland working for the people of Maine’s First District,” Pingree said in the press release issued this morning by her office. “I know whoever we bring on board through the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program will be an invaluable asset to our office and to the community. This new staff person will be helping their fellow veterans here in Maine navigate the VA and other government agencies and will help me stay in touch with veterans’ groups and issues around the state. As someone who takes great pride in fighting for our veterans as they have fought for us, I am honored that the Program has chosen to award my office this fellowship.”
