The Portland High School/Deering High School Alumni Dance Revival is on Friday, November 23 at the Italian Heritage Center.  “Concession Stand” food will be available at 6:30 pm and the Carmine Terrariano Band performs at 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $15.  All proceeds go to benefit both schools.  For tickets, call the Italian Heritage Center at 772-2500 or Darlene at 899-5356.

The alumni dance was previously held at the Portland Expo and was very popular in the late 1980s and 1990s, said Kimberly Wike, Portland High School assistant principal.   At some point in the evening alumni from each school would sing together their school song she said.  “I actually started attending the dance back in 1995 when it was held at the Exposition,” Wike said.  “It was a blast.”

The dance fell by the wayside in 2000s, but now a group of alumni from both schools is bringing it back and hope it will again become an annual tradition at an even larger venue,” Wike said.
