Pedestrian/Vehicle Crash on Riverside Street of Homeless Person Under Investigation; Driver Flees the Scene

On Sunday, December 28, 2025 at approximaely 6:48 pm., Portland Police responded to the area of 654 Riverside Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

An officer working nearby at the homeless service center responded immediately and was informed by witnesses that the pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when struck by a vehicle.  The vehicle stopped briefly before fleeing the scene toward Forest Avenue.

The victim, a 25 year old resident of the shelter, was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.  The vehicle involved is described as a silver SUV, belieed to be an older-model Honda CR-V.
