One of the Delightful Paintings by Lea Peterson on Exhibit at Moss Gallery, Falmouth, Through September 3, 2022.
An Opening Reception for a new and delightful exhibit, SEA CHANGE, by painter Lea Peterson, of Georgetown, is scheduled for FRIDAY, July 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Moss Gallery, Falmouth.
If you like seascapes and landscapes this is an exhibit that you might not want to miss. If you don’t expect to do much driving along the coast of Maine, this blogger would even go as far as to say that Peterson’s paintings will provide you with satisfying substitutes of the Maine coast without being there – they will do in a pinch!
Back in 2007, she committed to a career as an artist and moved to Maine. “I love the drama of the coast and find inspirtation whenever I look out at the ocean…the sea has become a central theme in my work,” she stated on her web page.
Peterson has participated in the founding of two Maine art galleries. In 2008, she and four other artists founded the Old Post Office Gallery, in Georgetown. Then, in 2012, she founded an arts center called the Center Street Arts Gallery, Bath.
“I look for moments of extraordinary beauty in ordinary places. Each painting is an invitation to feel and experience not just gaze from a distance. If viewers feel drawn to the painting, as to an oasis where they can linger. rest or refresh, I feel I’ve succeeded,” wrote Peterson as part of her mission statement on her web page.
The show runs through September 3, at Moss Gallery, 251 US Route 1, Falmouth, Maine.
