Maine State Police responded to an overturned tractor-trailer unit on 1-295 in Freeport around 5:36 am this morning according to a press release issued early this morning.
Troopers say the driver of a 2024 Mack truck, Nikola Loncar, 42 of Colorado, drifted off the right side of the roadway. In so doing, he struck an embankment before overturning off the roadway. Loncar was wearing his seatbelt and had to be removed from the truck by Freeport Fire. He was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Maine DOT, as well as the Freeport Police and Fire Departments. The off-ramp at Exit 24 is currently shut down as recovery crews remove the truck and the clean the scene. With expected heavy traffic across Maine today, motorists are encouraged to be patient and consider alternative routes to help ease congetion.
