“People were so pleased to get back together for this event,” said Andrea Gleason, Director of the Maine YogaFest,  late this afternoon. The  Annual YogaFest is held in the field next to the East End Community School on Munjoy Hill and near Island View Apartments.

The popular event that attracts participants from all over the northeast has been on a pandemic pause since 2019.  This year Andea  has participants coming from as far away as Pennsylvania.

Although people were pleased to get back together for this popular event, some were leary about being in a crowd even though it is outside.  “Some people need to learn how to be back in crowds again,” Andrea said this afternoon.  In 2019, before the pandemic 550 people attended the YogaFest.  This year 340 have attended the popular event.  There are over 20 vendors this year, which is just a few short of previous years.

“However, people are not spending as much this year as they did before,” Andrea.said.  Certainly inflation and the price of gas are  factors contributing to that change..  According to a seminar at the National Governor Association earlier this week, people are traveling less and staying closer to home.  Most believe that is because of the price gouging by big oil companies of gas taking advantage of a situation.

Tomorrow, Sunday, July 17, is the last day of YogaFest 2022.  There are three blocks of sessions with four or five selections of classes in each block.  The blocks run from 8:30 am – 10:00 am; 10:30 am – noon; and from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm. Tickets may be purchased either on-line or at the gate tomorrow.
