Nine Clergy Arrested by Portland Police At Senator Collins Office Tonight

Nine members of the clergy were arrested this evening at the office of Senator Susan Collins (R) in downtown Portland.  They were handcuffed and taken to Cumberland County Jail around 8:00 pm this evening.

This followed a day long sit-in that began at 11:00 am this morning when clergy arrived to protest Collins’ support of the tax plan calling it “immoral” and “unjust.”

The Portland Police Department did not respond to an inquiry as to how long the nine will be held at the Cumberland County Jail.
