Dawn C. Stiles, LCSW has been selected to be the City’s next Director of Health & Human Services by Portland’s Acting City Manager Sheila Hill-Christian according to a press release issued today. The recommendation must be approved by the Portland City Council. If approved, her appointment would be effective December 1, 2014.
Ms. Stiles is currently the Executive Director of the Anna Maria Island Community Center on Anna Maria Island, Florida, where she is responsible for a $1.1 million budget for community integration and programming for all ages. Prior to her time in Florida, Ms. Stiles was the President of Spurwink Services, Maine’s largest mental health agency in Portland from 2006 until 2013. There she was responsible for a $55 million budget and more than 1,000 employees. Prior to her time at Spurwink, she was Deputy Bureau Director at Maine’s Department of Human Services (now DHHS) Ms. Stiles salary is about $105,000. per year.
