Please don’t put your running sneakers away yet!
That’s because the second annual 65 Roses 5K Race to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is taking place here on Sunday, September 25, 2011. It begins on the East End path near Cutter Street at 9 am. A new feature this year is a Kids’ Run that starts at 8:15 am at the same place.
Kim Anania, organizer of the event, said yesterday that 250 had signed up for the event and that she expects at least several hundred more to sign up between now and race day. Preregistration is $20. in advance and $25. race day. Runners may register on-line. Last year Anania and her committee donated $10,500 to the Foundation. If you pre-register, you can pick up your packet at Portland Pie on York Street.
Top winner (male/female) of each category will receive an award in 7 age groups. All participans in he Kids Run will receive a medal. The first 200 participants to register will receive a technical running shirt. The awards ceremony is expected to occur between 10 am – 10:30 am at the top parking lot on Cutter Street.
