Maine Gay Men’s Chorus Annual Pride Concert This Weekend; “Shine Like Stars”

Twenty-six members of the Maine Gay Men’s Chorus will be presenting its annual Pride Concert – “Shine Like Stars,” this weekend at The Portland Players, in South Portland.

The almost two hour concert includes spiritual music, music from Broadway plays, and contemporary. “Shine Like Stars” by Pink Zebra is the initial song on the concert program and for which the concert is named.

The mixed program includes music by the iconic composer and lyricist, the late Jerry Herman.  A dozen members of the over 30 year old Chorus will tap dance to Herman’s “Tap Your Troubles Away.”

Larry Jackson is the Artistic Director for the Chorus.  He also teaches music in the Falmouth Public Schools.   Tickets may be purchased for $17.00 on-line or for $20. at the door.  There is a concert on Friday, June 9th at 7:30 pm, Saturday, June 10th, at 7:30 pm and on Sunday afternoon, June 11th at 2:00 pm.
