Four Portland Public Schools will have newly appointed leaders starting July 1, 2023 it was announced this evening..  The Board of Education announced these appointments following its meeting this evening..

Dr. Jake Giesman will be the principal of Deering High School and Alyson Dane will be Deering assistant principal.  Priya Natarajan will be assistant principal of Casco Bay High School.  Amy Marx will be King Middle School principal.  Terry Young will be principal of Talbot Community School.

It was also announced this evening that Dr. Ryan Scallon has been approved as new superintendent of Portland Public Schools.  His start date is July 1st at a salary of $200,000.  It is expected he will be in Portland from June 23 – 27.  It is hoped the Board will create at least one community event while he is here so more members of the community can meet him.
