MaineCDC Director Announces New Record of Covid Cases Today; 204 New Cases


Pat’s Pizza in the Old Port, Market Street, is Under Investigation, for its COVID-19 Multiple Outbreaks.

Dr. Nirav Shah, Director of the MaineCDC, announced today 204 new cases of the COVID-19 in the State of Maine.  That sets a new single day Maine record number of new cases – bringing the total up to 7,897.  Dr. Shah said that 31% of the new cases are in Cumberland County and 25% of them are in Androsogin County.

The positivity rate of tests has accelerated to 2.14% which is more than a triple increase from two weeks ago when it was at .60%.  The national positivity rate for tests is 7%.  Maine remains low in that category, but it is concerning  because of the aggressive upward trend.

An investigation of an outbreak is underway at Portland Pie Company in Windham.  Another investigation of an outbreak is underway at Pat’s Pizza, Market Street, in the Old Port.

Two new testing sites have been added in Maine.  One is at the Portland International Jetport, 1001 Westbrook Street.  No referrals necessary and is by appointment only.  The test site is open between 11:00 am – 10:30 pm.  Monday – Sunday.  The charge for one hour rapid testing is $25. or for three day standard test is $10.00.  Online appointments can be made at:  There is also a new site in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

Although another briefing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2020, that is Veterans’ Day.  So that briefing has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm.  It can be watched on Maine public television.
