Maine Medical Center and our children’s hospital that is so honored to bear the name of First Lady Barbara Bush, is deeply saddened to learn of today’s news.  Mrs. Bush and President Bush live their lives always putting others first.  Today, our thoughts and prayers turn to the Bush family during this difficult time,” wrote Rich Petersen, Maine Medical Center President and CEO.

It has been reported throughout the day that Mrs. Bush is in declining health and does not want any more life saving treatments. She is at home in Texas and family members are with her.  She is suffering from heart problems and COPD according to television news reports.  The Bush family summer home is at Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport.
