Justice Jackson Following Her BipartisanConfirmatio to the Supreme Court Today.  The Vote was 53 to 47 in Her Favor.

“In a time of great cynicism, today’s confirmation of Justice Ketenji Brown Jackson to America’s highest court is a bright moment for our country.  For decades, the Supreme Court has lacked balance; balance in gender, balance in race, balance in life experiences, balance in perspective, balance in judicial compassion and moderation,” said Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D) in a statement issued by her office today.

“Justice Jackson’s elevation will help restore needed balance in ways that would benefit generations of  Americans.  This is the most conservative Supreme Court in over a century.  Justice Jdackson’s voice will be critical to halting the radicalism of right wing, partisan justices bent on imposing a dangerous vision of the world.  With our civil and reproductive rights, freedom from pollution and guns violence and entitlement to a vibrant democracy on the line, I am heartened Justice Jackson will be on the frontline standing up for all of them.  What a special moment for the US.  Think of all the young women watching today who will be inspired.  I’m inspired,” concluded Pingree’s statement.
