The City of Portland announced this week that Taco Trio  has been awarded push cart concession rights to Lincoln Park effective immediately and lasting through the end of October 2014.  Taco Trio was also awarded concession rights for a push cart and food truck on the Western Promenade, Portland.  Perry’s Sidewalk Cafe  (push cart) will be located at the East End Beach.  Perry serves large hot dog rolls with hot dogs among other items.

Small Axe Truck and UrbanSugar & Mobile Cafe  were awarded concessions for Congress Square.

UrbanSugar specializes in bite size, made on site donuts.  They make four or five specality donuts and three glazed donuts.  Their coffee comes from Tandem Coffee Roasters, the best coffee in the country according to the experts, brewed locally in Bayside. The couple hopes to be at the Congress Square location starting Monday evening for The World Cup showing, at for 5:30 pm. Kevin says there will be a presence of food trucks in a designated spot on the Eastern Promenade.  He is working with another food truck, CNSHAWRNIA, who makes Arabian BQ, in that choice spot.

Saturday, June 21st had been set aside for volunteers who want to see Lincoln Park cleaned-up in time for the summer season.  The event is sponsored by Portland Downtown District who has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful, a national network of community-based affiliates.  See Upforwhatever.com for more information.  More details are expected on this event.

The 2.5 acre Park was created in 1866 following the Great Fire which burned down most of the buildings in Portland.  It was intended to be a firewall against future fires and was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln.  Most recently, it was the site of Portland’s Occupy Movement.  It’s parameters are up in the air depending on the footprint for Franklin Street – expected to be determined later this  year.
