Sarah Holland Addressing Crowd in Lincoln Park
About three hundred people attended a rally in Lincoln Park yesterday afternoon to support health care reform as well as the Maine Insurance Commissioner’s denial of Anthem Blue Cross’s total increase request for Mainers.
The insurance giant requested an 18% average rate increase rate for individuals. As of July ’08, the Insurance Commisssioner granted them an 10.9% average increase. Anthem has filed a law suit against the state for the lesser than requested rate increase granted them. Oral arguments in the case will be heard in court on Wednesday, March 24th at 9 am with the case to be decided at a later date.
Speakers called for Senators Snow and Collins to support health care reform.
