On Friday, November 3, 2023 shortly after 7:30 pm., an adult male was dropped off at the Emergency Department of St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.  The injured male was treated at St. Mary’s, but would later succumb to his injuries the following morning.  The deceased was identified as 40-year old Anthony Ayotte, Lewiston.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, Maine State Police Detectives working with Lewison Police Detectives conducted interviews and collected evidence which led to obtaining an arrest warrant for murder for 36-year-old Jerry Thibodeau, Lewiston.  Shortly after 5:00 pm., Lewiston Police and Crisis Negotiator Team responded and shortly after 10:00 pm, Thibodeau was taken into custody without incident.

Thibodeau is believed to have dropped Ayotte at the Hospital Friday night.  The two are known to each other.  Thibodeau was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail where he will make his initial appearance in Androscoggin District Court on Monday, November 6, 2023.

The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy is expected to be perfrormed Sunday, November 5, 2023, to determine cause and manner of death accoding to a press release issued this morning by Shannon Moss, Information Officer at Maine’s Public Safety Office.
