Katherine Jones, an employee of the city of Portland for the past 13 years, announced her retirement on December 6, 2021. It will be effective on July 1, 2022. She cited her “eagerness” to spend more time with her family, especially her young grandhildren.
Kathy Jones was appointed Portland City Clerk in 2011, after previously serving as the city’s Elections Administer since 2009. In September, she received the Clerk of the Year Award from the Maine Town and City Clerk’s Association (MTCCA).
Current plans are to expand the scope of the existing search subcommittee to replace her before her departure next July.
