You are urged to attend a “Block That Pick’ rally to demand that Senator Susan Collins (R) oppose Scott Pruitt’s nomination to head the EPA.  The rally is set for Thursday, February 2, at 10:00 am outside her office at One Canal Plaza, Portland.  A vote on his nomination to head the EPA is set for next week in Washington, D.C.

“BLOCK THAT PICK” (referring to the Super Bowl on Sunday in which the Patriots are playing) is composed of a coalition of Maine environmental, health, student and civil rights groups.  The rally will include protesters dressed in football referee shirts chanting “Block That Pick!”

For years, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has led the legal charge to kill President Obama’s Clean Power Plan and other important environmental safeguards.  He’s a climate science denier and he has regularly conspired with the fossil fuel industry to attack EPA protections.

As one of the only Republican Senators who supports actions to address the climate crisis, Senator Collins will play a key role in approving or rejecting Pruitt and other members of Trump’s ‘fossil fuel cabinet.’

In January, Maine Senator Angus King (I) announced his opposition to Pruitt.
